Everything Is Fine

Josh is an ordinary teenager in an ordinary suburb. One morning he finds one of his friends dead and then learns that three other friends took their own lives the same day; the four had decided together and Josh was left outside it. As the only one left he comes apart from everything around him: the family table, school, his girlfriend all appear to him from a distance, and no one knows what to ask him. The film does not try to explain the deaths but describes the days of the one left behind, and does not even ask what it was that nobody noticed. Yves Christian Fournier’s hundred and eighteen minute Canadian film is his first feature, written with Guillaume Vigneault. Maxime Dumontier plays Josh; it was completed in 2008 and won the Claude Jutra award.
