Exodus

At the centre of the account is a smuggler. The man moves people across borders. He does it for money. One day a twelve year old girl comes before him. Her family went missing in the war in Syria. She has no one left. At first the smuggler treats it as a job. Then he begins to take responsibility. The two of them set out together. The road is long and dangerous. There are borders, waits and middlemen. The man’s own past works its way in as well. Jwan Alqatami and Ashraf Barhom take the leads, with Isa Aouifia also in the cast, in Abbe Hassan’s Greek and Swedish coproduction of 2023.
