FIR

Manu Anand's 2022 Tamil film follows Irfan, a chemical engineer leading an ordinary life. He is mistaken for a wanted man and is suddenly marked as a terrorism suspect. The interest is how suspicion spreads. From the moment the investigation begins, the people around him, his work and his family come under the same gaze; the narrative shows this not as a personal error but as systematic prejudice. Vishnu Vishal leads. The narrative slides into genre in its second half and action comes forward; some critics argued that the film weakens the case it built in its final section. Who it's for: those who like Tamil thrillers and narratives about prejudice. Who it's not for: viewers expecting social criticism consistent throughout; the film returns to genre expectation at the end.
