What Four White Shirts Is About
Cezars installs telephones by day. At night he writes songs. He has a band of his own. To play in public they need a permit. The body that grants it is the censorship committee. The songs are brought before it. One member of the committee listens to them carelessly. She finds the lyrics unsuitable and frivolous. She says they do not befit Soviet youth. A long argument starts from there. It spreads into the press and into meetings. The same person then cannot stop where it goes. The film is about the workings of censorship itself. Uldis Pūcītis and Līga Liepiņa appear in the seventy seven minute film, a Soviet production Rolands Kalnins finished in 1967.
