Fun

Hillary and Bonnie meet one morning at the side of the road. Within the same day they become friends, tell each other things they have told nobody, and in the afternoon they kill an old woman. Then they are caught. The film runs two times together: that day itself, and the questioning in prison. Rafal Zielinski's film is less about showing the murder than about the question of why going unanswered. The only explanation the two girls give is that it was fun, and the film does not accept that as enough. Renée Humphrey and Alicia Witt take the leads; both took an acting award at Sundance. The editing separates the two times formally as well.
