What Gangster Ka Is About
Radim Kraviec is a mafioso who grew rich on tax fraud worth billions of crowns in the petroleum trade and then tried to take control of the state owned oil concern. The character comes out of a real criminal file the Czech press wrote about for years, by way of a book by the journalist Jaroslav Kmenta. The man was always capable of violence, but after his father is abducted and killed by a rival gang he turns into someone else entirely. The film shows a world in which crime is done through contracts and state tenders rather than in the street. The production was shot in two parts, and the second part was released the same year as a separate film. Hynek Čermák appears in Jan Pachl’s hundred and one minute Czech film, completed in 2015.
