What Gas Station Queen Is About
Lyudmila cannot find the job that suits her. She has tried being an air hostess, a newsreader, a model and an ice skater, and none of it took. In the end she starts work at a petrol station and turns out, unexpectedly, to shine there. Her cheerfulness, her talking and her refusal to give up win over the customers and everyone else around her. There are also the drivers trying their luck with her. Aleksey Mishurin's film was made at the Dovzhenko studio in Kyiv. It stars Nadezhda Rumyantseva, one of the best-loved comic actresses in the Soviet Union in the 1960s. A light, fast comedy with songs in it, carrying the period's image of the working woman as well.
