Ghadi

Leba is a music teacher in a small town in Lebanon. He and his wife Lara have three children; the youngest, Ghadi, is a boy with Down syndrome. The family loves him, but the town does not agree. The neighbours are disturbed by the sound of him and by his presence, and start pressing the family to move. Leba looks for a way out. Amin Dora's Lebanese film was written by Georges Khabbaz, who also plays the lead. The telling does not present Ghadi as somebody to be pitied; the trouble is not with the child but with the neighbourhood. The film puts intolerance into comedy without making the neighbourhood wicked as a body. It reached a wide audience in Lebanon and was shown abroad as well.
