What Great Green Valley Is About
A group of geologists finds oil under the valley where an old herdsman grazes his flock. The man has been left behind by his age; he lives with his unhappy wife, her friend and his growing son, and between him and the boy there is a fine understanding. The large machinery that comes into the valley with the oil does not fit the quiet order of the place at all. At home there is a slide projector everyone enjoys, but in a place without even plumbing it too stands as something foreign. The film does not say whether the change is good or bad; it shows that it does not fit. David Abashidze appears in Merab Kokochashvili’s eighty five minute Georgian film, completed in 1967.
