What Great World of Sound Is About
Martin answers an advertisement that promises to train him as a record producer and is excited at the thought of working with undiscovered musicians. With his experienced partner Clarence he starts moving from town to town, holding auditions in hotel rooms. Both of them believe they are really looking for talent, until they work out that the business is built on collecting money up front from the musicians. Craig Zobel used real musicians in the audition scenes and shot much of the film through improvisation, which gives it a documentary weight. Pat Healy and Kene Holliday appear in the hundred and six minute American film, completed in 2007.
