What Green and Gold Is About
As family farms in America close one by one, Buck, a fourth-generation dairy farmer, and his granddaughter try to hold on to what is left. With the bank moving to foreclose, Buck makes a last play: he bets that the Green Bay Packers will win the Super Bowl, and if they do the bank will extend his mortgage. His granddaughter, meanwhile, meets a well-known musician and starts to feel the pull of leaving the farm for music. Anders Lindwall, who is from the region himself, directed and co-wrote; the film is set in 1993 and was shot around Door County in Wisconsin. Craig T. Nelson plays Buck. It is also the last screen appearance of the long-serving character actor M. Emmet Walsh, who died in March 2024.
