What H-8... Is About
On a rainy night a bus travelling from Belgrade to Zagreb collides with a lorry coming the other way. In its first minute the film says how many people will die but not which of them. Then it goes back and introduces the people on the bus one by one. Through the whole journey the viewer is trying to guess who it will be. Nikola Tanhofer's film starts from a real crash: the driver who caused the 1957 collision was never found, and the only information left was the H-8 at the start of the number plate. The film counts among the best Croatian productions; in a critics' poll in 2020 it was voted first. For its structure it is spoken of as a forerunner of the disaster films that came years later.
