Blanca Rosa Blanco C Claudia Alvariño R René de la Cruz Jr. What Habanastation Is About
The film shows two separate faces of Havana through the everyday life of two children who resemble each other in nothing. How much distance lies between the homes, the neighbourhoods and the means of these two boys growing up in the same city becomes visible to both of them only when their paths cross. The account sets this up not in order to teach a lesson but so that the children come to know one another. The film was made first of all with children in mind, yet the division it describes is one that adults built. As the distance between the two boys closes, the city itself begins to look different too. Ernesto Escalona and Andy Fornanis appear in Ian Padron’s ninety five minute Cuban film, completed in 2011.
