Hannah Montana: The Movie

Peter Chelsom’s film keeps the series cast, but the crowded part is the music. Alan Silvestri was to write the score and dropped out when another film needed him; John Debney took over and recorded at the Sony Scoring Stage. Silvestri’s song with Glen Ballard, "Butterfly Fly Away", stayed in the picture anyway. Taylor Swift appears briefly on screen and supplies two songs. She sent "Crazier", calling it a song suited to falling in love, and co-wrote the opening track "You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home" with Martin Johnson of Boys Like Girls. "The Climb", the film’s lead single, won Best Song from a Movie at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, over "Jai Ho" from Slumdog Millionaire and Bruce Springsteen’s "The Wrestler". At the other end of that season sit the 30th Golden Raspberries: Miley Cyrus was nominated for Worst Actress, Billy Ray Cyrus won Worst Supporting Actor. Shooting was split between Los Angeles and Tennessee, and Seaview High, Miley and Lilly’s school, is really a high school in Franklin. A good fit if you do not mind the second half leaving the pop tour for a barn fundraiser against a developer who wants the town’s land turned into a shopping mall. Not for anyone meeting the strain between Miley Stewart and Hannah Montana without having watched the series.
