What Hearts and Bones Is About
Dan Fisher is a photojournalist in Sydney who has worked war zones for years and never asked what it has done to him. Home from a new assignment and preparing an exhibition, he gets two pieces of news: his wife is pregnant, and a South Sudanese refugee turns up at his door. Sebastian asks him to withdraw the photographs he took in South Sudan from the show. Dan agrees, and then a closer look at those images starts raising questions. It is Ben Lawrence's first feature. Hugo Weaving plays Dan and Andrew Luri plays Sebastian; Luri is not a professional actor and is a refugee himself. It premiered in Sydney and then went to Toronto.
