Heaven

Unni Govindraj's 2022 Malayalam film follows Peter, a quiet inspector of few words who prefers to solve his cases without force. A sensational killing lands on his desk. As the investigation goes on, the accounts of those around the case contradict each other; the narrative builds its tension through conversation and keeps the violence outside the frame. Suraj Venjaramoodu leads. The images are dark and the pace low. The close delivers its explanation late. Who it's for: those who like Malayalam crime films and quiet thrillers. Who it's not for: viewers expecting action; the film is built on conversation.
