Hell on Wheels

The documentary follows the Tour de France. The race it films was ridden in 2003. That year was the hundredth of the Tour. The camera attaches itself to one team. The team is the German side Telekom. Two names stand at the centre. One is the sprinter Erik Zabel. The other is his teammate Rolf Aldag. The two have shared a room for years. The friendship between them is the main line of the film. The race runs for three weeks. The road crosses the Alps and the Pyrenees and reaches Paris. Three crews filmed at once. Erik Zabel and Rolf Aldag appear in the hundred and twenty three minute documentary. Werner Swiss Schweizer and Pepe Danquart directed it, a German, French and Swiss coproduction of 2004.
