Here We Are

Nir Bergman's 2020 Israeli film follows Aharon, who has given his life to raising his son Uri. The two live inside a quiet routine they built themselves. Uri is autistic and now an adult, and the question of a specialised home comes up. On the way there, at the door of the institution, Aharon turns the car around and takes off with his son. That is the question the film keeps asking: is it really Uri who is not ready for the separation, or his father. The script is by Dana Idisis, whose own brother is autistic. Shai Avivi and Noam Imber star. It was in the 2020 Cannes official selection and had its world premiere in Toronto.
