What Home Room Is About
There is a shooting at a high school. Weeks have passed. Alicia is the girl at the far edge of the class: dressed in black, talking to nobody, and she was there when it happened. Deanna is the well-liked, high-achieving student, in hospital with a bullet in her head and no memory of any of it. The police question Alicia because her account does not hold together. Then they make her go to the hospital and visit Deanna. The two girls beginning to talk carries the whole film. Paul F. Ryan directs; two hours and thirteen minutes, with Busy Philipps as Alicia, Erika Christensen as Deanna and Victor Garber in the cast. The film never shows the shooting; what interests it is that afterwards nobody knows what to say.
