House Mates

Rajavel's 2025 Tamil film follows Karthick and Anu, who marry and buy an old flat. After moving in, unexplained things begin happening; they look into it and find a connection to the flat's first owner. The film uses horror and comedy together. The supernatural events are not taken seriously; the couple's everyday reactions to them are the source of the humour, and the tension is therefore never fully built. Behind the narrative lies the difficulty of owning a home in the city; the flat is bought because it is cheap and the problem follows from that. This gives the film a small social footing. Kaali Venkat appears in support. Who it's for: those who like Tamil horror comedy. Who it's not for: viewers looking for real fright; the film keeps breaking the tension with humour.
