How Funny (This Country Is)

Three young men have just left university. They hope to find work but the doors are closed. A degree on its own gets them nowhere. After a while they come up with another idea. They decide to take on the children working in the streets. Those children live by begging and by picking pockets. The young men want to teach them to trade instead. The aim is to get the children off the street. But the children’s fathers are against it. For them the present arrangement pays better. The story makes you laugh and think at once. Poverty and corruption stand side by side. The film looks at inequality in Indonesia. Reza Rahadian and Deddy Mizwar appear in the hundred and five minute film, an Indonesian production Deddy Mizwar finished in 2010.
