How to Survive a Marriage?

Sunil Soraya's 2024 Indonesian film follows a woman trying to keep her marriage working. The problem is not her husband but her mother-in-law, who will not stay out of it. The film builds this conflict as comedy. The balance of power in the house, the expectations of the extended family and the daughter-in-law's obligation to give way are shown scene by scene; the narrative does not leave the mother-in-law one-dimensional and supplies her reasons in the second half.
