Hridayam

Arun starts studying engineering. Everything is new in the first year: the hostel, friends, classes and the city. He meets Darshana and a relationship begins quickly. Then it ends. Arun falls apart; he cannot attend, he fights, and he fails the year. The narrative does not stop there. In the second part he finishes his degree, starts working and marries someone else. In the third, years later, everyone meets again and everything from that time looks different. Vineeth Sreenivasan writes and directs. Pranav Mohanlal plays Arun; Darshana Rajendran and Kalyani Priyadarshan are in the cast. It is in Malayalam. The film was a large commercial success in Malayalam cinema and found a wide answer among younger viewers. The form is divided into three parts, each working as a period; the total running time is long. The matter it treats is growing up; that a first love is not a catastrophe and changes its place in time is shown directly. Hesham Abdul Wahab's music had a large share in its success and the songs became known separately. The university sections are built in detail; the classroom, the hostel and campus life are given realistically. Its limits are length and pace; the marriage strand in the second part runs long. Who it is for: viewers who like Malayalam cinema and narratives of growing up. Who it is not for: it is very long, the pace uneven, and the emotional register high.
