What Government Woman Is About
In Midyat, the only thing separating Xate from her neighbours is that her husband is the mayor and that she has eight children. Then circumstances put her, unable to read or write, into the mayor's chair herself. She takes on the running of a town the way she runs a kitchen, and the competition among her own children makes the job considerably more complicated. Sermiyan Midyat's comedy speaks in Midyat's own idiom and its own humour, with Demet Akbağ in the lead, and a sequel followed.
