Hunting Season

A reclusive man living self-sufficiently in the woods with his daughter rescues a wounded woman. The criminal gang pursuing her comes into the forest and father and daughter have to defend themselves. Raja Collins directed, from a screenplay by Adam Hampton. The cast includes Mel Gibson, Shelley Hennig, Sofia Hublitz and Jordi Molla. It opened on 5 December 2025 and runs one hundred minutes. The structure is the familiar genre template: an isolated place, a threat arriving from outside and forced violence. The forest and snow are used to narrow the field of the fight. What is interesting is that the father and daughter relationship is established before the action; her survival knowledge is presented not as a talent but as compulsory training. The budget is limited and it shows visually; the shootouts are close-range and short. Who it is for: viewers who like direct action thrillers and survival stories. Who it is not for: anyone after an original story; the film works with familiar material.
