What I Never Cry Is About

Seventeen-year-old Ola cares about two things: passing her driving test and getting the car her father promised her. When he dies in an accident on an Irish building site, bringing the body home to Poland falls to her. She flies out foul-mouthed, stubborn and deferential to nobody, and immediately runs into the paperwork of a country whose language she barely speaks. Piotr Domalewski has made a grief film about a girl who refuses to cry. Between the morgue, the consulate, the site and the lodging house, Ola pieces together how her father actually lived out there, who he worked with, and what he had become away from home. Zofia Stafiej carries the whole thing.
