I Was Here

At the centre of the account is a high school student. The young man does well at his lessons. He lives in a poor district in Estonia. There is nobody at home and he is on his own. He does not even have money for basic needs. After a while an offer comes his way. The offer has to do with selling drugs. The young man does not want it. But he cannot see another way. Once he is in, the world around him changes fast. The earnings rise and so does the risk. His life at school falls away behind him. The film was adapted from a novel. Rasmus Kaljujärv and Doris Tilk take the leads in René Vilbre’s Estonian and Finnish coproduction of 2008.
