What Il conte Max Is About
Alberto Boccetti sells newspapers in Rome and dreams of getting inside the world of the nobility, so he attaches himself to Count Max Orsini Varaldo, an aristocrat with no money left, who teaches him upper class manners in exchange for newspapers. Giorgio Bianchi's film is a remake of Mario Camerini's Il signor Max from 1937, and the real joke is in the casting: Vittorio De Sica, who played the lead in 1937, plays the genuine count here, while his old part goes to Alberto Sordi.
