I'm from Hollywood

The documentary is about the period Andy Kaufman spent in the world of professional wrestling. Kaufman was a performance artist who made stepping into the ring part of his own work. Angering the audience, drawing a reaction, and leaving it unclear whether any of it was real stood at the centre of his method. Marilu Henner and Tony Danza, his co-stars from Taxi, speak in the film. The wrestler Jerry Lawler, the commentator Lance Russell and Kaufman’s close friend Bob Zmuda also tell their part. David Letterman appears in the footage as well. The title comes from something Kaufman said to a wrestling crowd in Memphis. That the joke and the real thing cannot be told apart is the real subject. Lynne Margulies and Joe Orr’s sixty one minute American documentary was completed in 1989.
