The film sets out how Yigal Amir, who killed the Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1995, arrived at that decision. The family circle of Amir, then a law student, the arguments at his university, the meetings he attended in the settlements and the campaign waged against the Oslo process are shown in turn, and the approval given by some religious figures and the language used at rallies are part of the account. The film does not justify the man; on the contrary it watches how an assassination was step by step made to look legitimate. The killing itself is brief and unadorned. Yaron Zilberman’s hundred and twenty three minute Israeli film rests on four years of research and took the country’s best film award in 2019.
