Luka Mihailović's 2023 Serbian film follows Vuk, thirty, just out of prison. His closest friend's suicide still weighs on him, and he is trying to keep his younger brother Zizi away from the same circle. Vuk's past will not let him go. The film gives the attempt to save his brother not as protectiveness but as desperation; the narrative makes the drug economy on the edges of Belgrade the ground rather than the background. Parts of the cast are inexperienced. The images are low-lit and handheld. The close is hard. Who it's for: viewers of Balkan crime drama. Who it's not for: viewers for whom drug use and suicide would be difficult.
