What Instant Swamp Is About
Everything goes wrong at once for Haname, who works at a magazine: the magazine folds, her boyfriend leaves, and her mother falls into the water while hunting for a legendary creature in a pond and ends up in a coma. Going through her mother’s things she learns that her father is someone else, and decides to find him. The man turns out to run an odd antique shop in a corner of the city and to live by rules of his own. In that shop she finds both a father and a way of no longer taking everything so seriously. Satoshi Miki’s hundred and twenty five minute Japanese comedy carries the losses and the oddities with the same calm. Kumiko Aso and Ryo Kase appear; it was completed in 2009.
