Is Lucyna a Girl?

Lucyna trained as an engineer abroad. With her licence in hand she comes back to Poland. She starts looking for work in her own profession. Her family, however, is against it. Her wealthy father does not think it proper for a girl to work. Lucyna does not give up and finds a way round it. She puts on men’s clothes and takes a job under another name. At work she goes by Julian Kwiatkowski. She is good at the job and earns the respect of those around her. Keeping the secret, though, gets harder by the day. The people around her start asking questions. A matter of the heart enters the picture as well. The comedy comes out of that double position. The film talks about the right of women to work through humour. Jadwiga Smosarska and Eugeniusz Bodo appear in the seventy six minute film, a Polish production Juliusz Gardan finished in 1934.
