Trouble on Wheels

Kudret has lived his whole life by the rules, and his order falls apart at once. He gets in his car and heads for Antep. On the road everything that can happen to the car and to him does; hundreds of kilometres later he learns what living without rules means. Burak Aksak wrote and directed. Cengiz Bozkurt plays Kudret, with Seda Bakan, Erkan Kolcak Kostendil, Cihan Ercan, Erdal Tosun, Tarik Unluoglu and Zihni Goktay. Aksak is known first as the writer of the series Leyla ile Mecnun, and the film's comic language comes straight from there: dialogue that recognises no border between the real and the absurd, characters faithful to their own logic, events linked illogically but consistently. The road movie template suits that humour; the further it goes, the clearer it is that arriving is not the point. It opened on 18 September 2015. Who it is for: fans of the Leyla ile Mecnun sense of humour and anyone after a Turkish road comedy. Who it is not for: viewers wanting a classical plot; this moves scene by scene and holds together loosely.
