Keedaa Cola

Tharun Bhascker's 2023 Telugu film follows three men who find a cockroach in a cola bottle. They plan to make money by taking it to the consumer court, and at the same time the affairs of a local thug with political ambitions gather pace. The structure joins several lines. A small scheme grows step by step and apparently unrelated events intersect at the same point; the narrative makes those intersections its source of comedy. Brahmanandam appears in a different kind of role after a long gap and that became the most discussed aspect. The cutting is fast, the humour black and the violence enters suddenly. Bhascker is known for low-budget independent work. Who it's for: those who like Telugu black comedy and multi-strand narratives. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a warm tone; almost no character in the film is sympathetic.
