What Keeping Rosy Is About
In Steve Reeves’s 2014 British thriller, Charlotte is a cold, tightly wound executive. Passed over for promotion, she comes home in a temper, finds her cleaner smoking in her immaculate flat, and the argument ends in a killing. Panic and cold efficiency arrive together: the body and the evidence have to go. Then Charlotte finds something in the cleaner’s car that she was not expecting, and the plan to conceal what she has done turns in an entirely different direction. The film gets its tension not from pursuit but from the responsibility the woman has to carry inside the lie she has built. Maxine Peake plays Charlotte.
