Kochi Rajavu

Surya Narayana Varma, a young man everyone calls Unni, comes out of prison having served a five year sentence. In his youth he had accidentally caused a man’s death, and his family sent him away from home to Chennai. There he lands between two rival groups at the law college and he and Meenakshi fall for each other; but when her family sets about arranging the wedding, Unni chooses to tell her about his past in his own words. The account thus begins as a campus comedy and moves towards an unsettled account from the past. In Johny Antony’s Malayalam language film, Dileep plays Unni, Rambha plays Meenakshi and Kavya Madhavan the girl he loved back home, with Murali and Jagathy Sreekumar in the cast. The screenplay is by Udayakrishna and Siby K. Thomas, the music by Vidyasagar; it opened on 14 April 2005.
