A Chinese fantasy made entirely in CGI, with the faces and movements of actors including Fan Bingbing and Kris Wu captured and mapped onto digital characters. Guo Jingming adapted it from his own fantasy novels: a world of sorcerers, lords and the warriors bound to them, with four kingdoms permanently at war. The visual ambition is real, but faces that look almost human without living became the film's most criticised feature.
