La Bola Negra

Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo's 2026 Spanish film moves across three periods: the republic in 1932, the civil war in 1937 and the present in 2017. In each period the story of three young men is followed. The film sets them beside each other in parallel; the narrative draws the link between political repression and sexual identity and looks for echoes between the times. Guitarricadelafuente and Miguel Bernardeau appear. The music runs inside the narrative. The production is large in scale. Who it's for: viewers of Spanish cinema and queer historical narrative. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a straight chronology; the film keeps switching between three times.
