What La famiglia Passaguai Is About
Giuseppe Passaguai, the head of the family, takes advantage of a discount going at his workplace and decides to spend a Sunday with his wife and children at the beach at Fiumicino. From that moment everything goes wrong; the crowds, the heat, lost belongings, misunderstandings and quarrels with the neighbours follow one another until the outing turns into a kind of comic nightmare. Aldo Fabrizi wrote, directed and starred, with Peppino De Filippo and Ave Ninchi alongside him. It was a large box office success in Italy and in 2008 was placed on the Ministry of Culture’s list of a hundred Italian films to be saved. Fabrizi made two more films with the same family; this is the first of the three.
