Maxime Rappaz’s first feature is about Claudine, whose life is organised around caring for her disabled son. Every Tuesday, for one day, she goes up to a hotel in the mountains and meets men passing through, and the arrangement has run the same way for years. When one of them decides to extend his stay for her, the arrangement breaks and she starts imagining a different life. The film does not offer that as a promise of rescue; what it is actually about is how narrow the single day set aside for herself has always been. Jeanne Balibar plays Claudine. An entirely Swiss production, it screened in the ACID section at Cannes in 2023.
