Life Doesn't Scare Me

Émilie, Inès, Stella and Marion met at school. All four of them are ordinary girls. A friendship forms between them at once. The film follows them growing up. Their laughter, their quarrels and their sorrows come side by side. Things at home are not always easy. Inès has parents who came from Spain and who are strict. Émilie’s mother is beginning to lose her mind. The girl has trouble carrying it. At one point she thinks about ending her own life. The four of them fall for certain boys. They work small spells to draw their attention. At sixteen three of them go on holiday to Italy. Émilie stays in Paris for acting lessons. Julie-Marie Parmentier and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi appear in the hundred and eleven minute film, a French and Swiss co-production Noémie Lvovsky finished in 1999.
