Like or Die

A middle aged woman decides she is going to be famous on social media. She makes videos, gathers followers, and at some point genuinely gets noticed. But the attention that arrives is not admiration: hate comments, opportunists, and people who find their way to her door. Carlos Santos directs, writes and edits. Mónica Huarte leads, with Macarena García, Diana Carreiro, Bárbara Lombardo, Mau Nieto, Daniela Peña, Leonardo Daniel and Memo Dorantes. It is Mexican. The Spanish title is Señora Influencer, which sets the register accurately: a satire poised between mockery and fear, darkening as it goes. The first half runs as comedy; the second turns into psychological horror. It opened on 2 November 2023, runs 110 minutes, and was distributed by Cinépolis. Its target is not one woman but an entire economy: a system where visibility pays, the viewer is the product, and humiliation counts as entertainment. Who it is for: anyone after a black comedy about social media, and viewers following Latin American genre film. Who it is not for: the shift between the two modes is not smooth. If you came for the comedy you will meet horror, and the other way round.
