What Live and Let Live Is About
The documentary examines the relationship people have with animals, the history of veganism and the ethical, environmental and health reasons that move people to become vegan. The film is built as an openly partisan case; the reasons put forward are the film’s own and the opposing view is not given the same room. The account sets footage from animal production beside interviews with specialists. The tellings of people who decided to become vegan form the backbone of the text. Claims about diet are a contested field, and the film does not open that argument. The account sets out to persuade the viewer rather than to conduct an inquiry. Marc Pierschel’s eighty minute documentary was completed in 2013.
