Lootcase

Lootcase, directed by Rajesh Krishnan, is an Indian comedy starring Kunal Khemu as Nandan, an ordinary print shop worker in Mumbai. When Nandan finds a suitcase stuffed with ten crore rupees in untraceable cash on his way home one night, he is pulled into a chase involving two rival gangs, a corrupt police officer, and the politician who lost the money, all trying to get it back. The film skipped a traditional theatrical release and premiered directly on Disney+ Hotstar on July 31, 2020, during a period when theaters were closed due to COVID-19. Director Rajesh Krishnan won Best Debut Director for the film at the 66th Filmfare Awards, and the film received eight Filmfare nominations overall. Who it's for: anyone curious about an Indian black comedy where a middle class worker's found suitcase of untraceable cash sets off a chase between corrupt politicians and police, released straight to streaming during COVID. Who it's not for: those looking for a theatrically verified box office hit, since this never had a traditional theatrical run.
