What Lost for Life Is About
The documentary tells together the stories of people in America serving life without parole for killings committed as children and the families of those they killed. Among those speaking are two teenagers who murdered a classmate and a boy who, after years of abuse, killed his mother and stepfather; relatives of the victims speak in the same film, and some of them ask whether forgiveness is possible at all. The film does not soften the crimes, but it also asks what it means to write off the whole life of a fifteen year old. Joshua Rofé’s seventy five minute American documentary was completed in 2013.
