Luiza is a young woman who has been in psychiatric treatment for years and lives inside a world of her own making, one with dangerous birds and other creatures in it. Her father is a local politician and has her shut in the hospital so that she will not disturb his election campaign. In the same place there is a man called Fabio, who is trying to get himself declared mentally ill in order to stay out of prison. The two meet there. The film presents the hospital not as a place of treatment but as a place where people are hidden from each other.
