Made in Hungaria

The account is set in Hungary in the middle of the sixties. Miki’s family comes back to the country from the West. Everyone else at the time was going the other way. Miki arrives in clothes nobody there wears. He speaks with a flawless American accent. He has a collection of Buddy Holly records. His old friends do not know what to make of him. The girl he grew up with keeps her distance. Röné, the tough of the neighbourhood, is not pleased either. Röné counts as the local king of rock and roll. Then the authorities take an interest, because they do not like what his music does to teenage girls. His father’s job is put at risk, and for the first time Miki has to play by the rules, which leaves him one route, the local talent contest. Tamás Szabó Kimmel and Iván Fenyő appear in the hundred and nine minute film, a Hungarian production Gergely Fonyó finished in 2009.
