Marilyn's Eyes

Clara lies so well that she believes what she says; Diego is an angry, obsessive man that life has tested. The two meet at a day centre among people being treated for behavioural disorders, and the centre gives them a shared assignment: run a restaurant working with everyone in the group. Simone Godano does not build it as a therapy story; nobody is cured, and what is tested is whether carrying a job together is possible at all. Miriam Leone and Stefano Accorsi lead, with a screenplay by Giulia Steigerwalt. The humour is built not on the characters' diagnoses but on their impatience with each other. The result is less sentimental than expected. Who it is for: viewers who like Italian romantic comedy and ensemble stories. Who it is not for: anyone uncomfortable with mental health used as comic material.
