Memories of a Marriage

Karl Age and Regitze hold a summer garden party for close friends, their son and his family. He is quiet and distant, she lively and direct. As the party goes on he looks back: love at first sight during the war, living together unmarried, his mother in law going on hunger strike because they would not have their son baptised. He remembers her inviting a homeless man to Christmas dinner and the man arriving with five bashful friends; and her standing up to the teacher who slapped their boy. He remembers too her love of dancing and his fear that his own awkwardness would end the attachment. Now he has something else to face. The eighty seven minute Danish film by Kaspar Rostrup and Tom Hedegaard was completed in 1989.
